Sectors

Every discipline counts

Each nomination records its engineering sector. Where the quality and number of entries justify it, sector commendations are activated under Sector Engineering Excellence — so breadth of coverage never comes at the cost of a thin field.

    Adjudication

    How entries are judged

    Independent panel
    Judges are appointed independently by the Judging and Awards Committee and assess entries against a published rubric.
    Declarations
    Every judge declares interests and recuses themselves from any entry where a conflict exists. Separation of duties applies throughout.
    Evidence, not adjectives
    Panels score demonstrated evidence. Name the work, give the figures, say what changed as a result.
    Sponsor independence
    Sponsorship confers no influence over nomination, shortlisting or adjudication — including in named categories.
    The right to withhold
    The panel may decline to make an award in any category where entries do not meet the required standard. This protects the standing of NEEA from its first year.
    Prepare a nomination
